Have you had THAT call?

The call that changes everything.

Mom has fallen and broken her hip. She’s in the hospital, will be moved to rehab soon, and you’re hearing that going home may not be as simple as you hoped.

Now there are questions about care, safety, and whether or not she will be able to cope alone at home.

You may be wondering what options are available, and how you find out.

You don’t have to know the answers before you call us.

That’s what we do.

You’re thinking ahead.

Maybe there isn’t a crisis. You’re simply beginning to wonder how long the current situation will continue to work - and what the options might be if something changes.

Planning ahead gives you and your parent something a crisis often takes away

Time to understand the options before making a decision.

A good place to start is our complimentary “Moving Mom & Dad” guide.

The First Step isn’t Making a Decision.

About Wise Senior Moves

At Wise Senior Moves, we take the time to look at the whole situation - your parent’s needs, wishes, lifestyle, finances and what matters most to them - and to you.

Sometimes staying in the current home with additional support may make sense.

Sometimes a smaller, more manageable home is worth considering.

And sometimes, independent living, assisted living, or another senior living option may offer the right combination of support, safety, and quality of life.

We Don’t Begin with a Predetermined Answer

When an older adult’s living situation begins to change, the real estate decision is often only one piece of a much bigger picture.

I’m Liz Houghton, founder of Wise Senior Moves and a Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP). I pursued specialized education in senior housing and senior placement because I wanted to do more than help someone complete a real estate transaction. I wanted to better understand the choices older adults and their families face - so I could help them understand the whole situation before deciding what comes next.

That may mean staying in the current home with a few modifications and in-home care.

It may mean moving to a smaller, more manageable home.

It may mean exploring senior living options.

Our Goal isn’t to Steer you Towards a Transaction. It’s to Help You Find the Way Forward

Once You Know the Way Forward, We Can Help Make it Happen.

Deciding what comes next is one thing. Making it all happen can be another.

If a move is part of the plan, there may be belongings to sort, movers and other professionals to coordinate, packing to oversee, a new home to prepare - and a house to sell or another home to purchase.

Wise Senior Moves Can Manage Those Pieces for You

When we represent you in the purchase or sale of a home or find the right senior living community for you, we can provide our Move Management services at not additional charge.*

That may include helping coordinate the sorting and downsizing, selecting and scheduling appropriate vendors, supervising packing and moving, and helping make sure the new home is ready when you arrive.

Instead of trying to find and manage several different people and moving parts yourself, you’ll have one knowledgeable point of contact helping keep the whole transition moving forward. You don’t need to do a thing.

  • Certain third-party vendor costs and services are separate. Ask us for details about our Move Management program.

What Does “Taking Care of the Whole Move” Actually Look Like?

When Doreen and John decided to leave the home they had lived in for more than 30 years and move to a senior community in Oklahoma City, selling the house was only one piece of the puzzle.

There were decades of belongings to sort, furniture to plan for a much smaller home, an estate sale to coordinate, movers to manage - and then an unexpected problem with the house threatened the timing of everything.

Our job was to help keep all those pieces moving.

By the time Doreen and John arrived at their new home, their furniture was in place, their boxes were unpacked and their bed was made.
